"Putin's Troubles Escalate: Wagner Withdraws from Frontline and Kremlin Under Attack"

Updated: Sep 29, 2023

Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine (WhyBKK) —The leader of the Russian mercenary group known as the Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, has announced that his forces will be leaving Bakhmut, a city in eastern Ukraine, on May 10th. This comes after the Russian defense chief blamed an ammunition shortage for the group's inability to seize the city, which has been the site of a prolonged and deadly battle.

In a video, Prigozhin is seen surrounded by dead bodies which he claims are Wagner fighters. He angrily directs his curses at Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Chief of Staff General Valery Gerasimov. In a separate statement addressed to Shoigu's ministry, Gerasimov, and President Vladimir Putin, Prigozhin stated that on May 10th, the Wagner Group will transfer their positions in Bakhmut to the Ministry of Defense and retreat to a transport camp due to a lack of ammunition that would cause them to perish in vain.
