The world's tallest man and tallest woman participated in Türkiye's presidential and parliamentary elections on Sunday. Sultan Kösen, who holds the title of "the tallest man in the world" with a height of 2 meters and 51 centimeters (8 feet and 2.82 inches), resides in Mardin and cast his vote in the rural Alibey neighborhood of Derik district in Mardin. Kösen, who lives in the village of Dede, made it to the Guinness Book of Records in 2009 with his 27.5-centimeter long hands, 36.5-centimeter feet, and his height. However, due to his difficulty walking, Kösen arrived at Alibey Village Primary School to vote by riding on the back of a tractor-trailer. He stated that he hoped for the best for his country.
On the other hand, Rümeysa Gelgi, recognized as the "tallest woman in the world" in the Guinness Book of Records, also participated in the elections. Gelgi, who is 2 meters and 15 centimeters tall and has Weaver syndrome, resides in Karabük and voted using a mobile ballot box provided by officials. She told reporters that she used to go to schools to cast her vote until now but decided to use the mobile ballot box this time. Gelgi stated that the mobile ballot box was suitable for people with physical disabilities and wished the best for her country. She added that she had cast her vote and thanked everyone involved.
