Tina Turner, whose hits like The Best and What's Love Got to Do With It made her a superstar, has died aged 83. Roger Davies, Turner's manager for 30 years, said in a statement, "Tina is a force of nature that is unique and astonishing with her strength, incredible energy and profusion of talent."

American singer Gloria Gaynor, who rose to prominence in the 1960s, said Turner "paved the way for many women in rock music, black and white."
There were also praises from supermodel Naomi Campbell, basketball legend Magic Johnson and singers Kelly Rowland, Ciara and Debbie Harry from Blondie.
On Instagram, The Rolling Stones frontman Sir Mick Jagger said that Turner was "inspirational, warm, funny and open-minded" and helped him when he was young.

Tina Turner was born in Tennessee into a family of joint planters. She became famous as one of the backing singers for her husband's band The Kings of Rhythm.
